Healing Trauma : A Brief Intervention for women. This program is designed to help you begin healing from effects of trauma, particularly violence or other abuse. One of the first steps to healing and growth is to acknowledge the traumatic experiences in our lives and the impact they have on us.

  • Learn more about trauma and how widespread it is in women’s lives
  • Become aware of the strengths  you already have that can help you recover
  • Increase the skills you need for healing
  • Learn exercises and techniques that can help you feel more grounded and safe

The group will meet for six sessions, provide a safe place to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. The healing journey can be challenging, if we give ourselves the opportunity to heal and grow, we learn how to live happier lives.

Walking Group: Walk, talk and enjoy the view. The group meets once a week at CWRC. As well as being fun and sociable there’s evidence that walking is good for blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol and can help improve mood.

Book Club: Monthly meet up 4th Tuesday of the month. Crazy about books, book club is a great way to meet women and discuss views on your favourite title (and chit-chat). This a nice way to get to know other women living in the area.

Art Group: A drop-in art group that runs every week. This group is user-led; exploring different techniques, artistic styles, and mediums from collage, to quilling, to watercolour and everything in between. Join us for a fun, pressure-free exploration of your artistic side.

Mindful Sewing course: Delivered in partnership with Sew Creative Cambridge, Mindful Sewing is a six week sewing and textile course. Each session covers a different skillset and explores how sewing can benefit mental health

Freedom Programme: The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by attitudes and beliefs on the actions of abusive men and the responses of victims and survivors. The aim is to help women to make sense of and understand what has happened to them, instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess. The Freedom Programme also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.

Weaving: 6 week weaving course, using different materials and allowing women to learn weaving skills in a friendly environment.

Focus Group Meetings: Informal meeting which is an opportunity for women to share struggles you are going through, provide feedback on CWRC’s work and mention any activities you would like us to start.
