CWRC, the grassroots community charity dedicated to empowering, educating and encouraging women seeking positive change for themselves and their families, has been named as this year’s charity for the CAMRA Cambridge Beer Festival.

“This is incredible news for CWRC at a crucial time in the charity’s 40-year history, enabling us to continue providing a safe space with trusted services that have supported many thousands of women across the decades,” said Hellena Barnes, Communications and Fundraising Officer. “Women facing the consequences of difficult and traumatic times need our services more than ever, and despite desperately low funds, we have remained steadfast in our mission to support women throughout the community – this truly is a fundraising lifeline for CWRC.”

The charity’s announcement also heralds a new era for Cambridge Women’s Resources Centre with the welcome appointment of Harriet Morgan to the post of CEO. “We are thrilled to be nominated as the Cambridge Beer Festival Charity for 2024,” said Harriet. “It presents an enormous opportunity to generate vital funds that support the women who need us and help empower those looking to change their life for the better, while bringing a voice of hope and awareness to expand the work we do in Cambridgeshire.”

Taking place from Monday 20th to Saturday 25th May on Jesus Green, the illustrious Cambridge Beer Festival is the oldest and largest CAMRA festival in the country and looks set to welcome around 45,000 visitors for its 50th year. Amazing teams of volunteers will be there all week collecting glasses for donations and the CWRC stand will bring all the fun of the fair with great activities for entertainment – so please say hello and support if you can!

Speaking of the charity’s work, CEO Harriet Morgan said: “Although we have a vast task ahead to revive this much-loved Cambridge charity, it is one we embrace with huge pride and grateful thanks to the Cambridge Beer Festival and every one of our supporters. Fundraising will ensure that we can continue helping women and the families they strive to support. We listen without judgement, provide information and offer a calming safe space. If something is causing you worry, or life is feeling overwhelming, then come and have a chat with our team.”
