Textile waste is a global emergency. Vast quantities of fast fashion are exported from the UK to countries like Ghana, where they cause serious environmental and economic damage.

We understand why people want to donate clothes, but the sheer volume of unwanted textiles is a real problem for free/charity shops. If we’re not selective, we become overwhelmed with items we don’t have space to store and that aren’t wanted by the women who use our free shop.

FAQs
1. How many donations can you accept?
We can only accept small volumes of donations, we cannot process or store multiple bin liners of mixed items.

2. What condition should clothes be in for donation?
Clothes should be new or nearly new, clean and free from tears or stains.

2. Should I wash the clothes before donating them?
Yes, if items have been worn, always wash the clothes you plan to donate first, preferably on a hot wash of 50c or over. If items can’t be washed because they are Dry Clean Only or heavy coats, please let us know when you drop them off.

3. Can I donate old underwear or socks?
No, please do not donate underwear or socks unless they are new and still in their packaging.

4. Is there anything I shouldn’t donate?
We can’t accept used or opened makeup and toiletries. We also don’t need any men’s clothes, but our friends at Jimmy’s or Wintercomfort may do, while baby clothes and equipment could help Little Bundles. If donating shoes, please make sure they are new or nearly new. We have a lot of stilettos, so aren’t currently accepting any more.

5. Can you collect donations?
Unfortunately we are unable to collect donations. Please contact us if you wish to donate.
