CWRC’s Peterborough Centre will be closing on the 27th March 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce that the Peterborough branch of the Cambridge Women’s Resources Centre (CWRC) will be closing at the end of March 2026. We are no longer accepting referrals to our Peterborough Centre.
Until the 27th March, we will provide:
- The Freedom Programme (course ends on the 27th)
- A weekly women’s therapeutic group
- Drop-in session for coffee and chat
- Counselling service providing courses of eight sessions for up to eight women.
- Free Shop for preloved clothes and new toiletries and period products
CWRC took over from the Peterborough Women’s Centre in 2013, and it has been a privilege to stand alongside women in this community. Reaching the decision to close has been extremely difficult. It is another consequence of a lack of secure and sustainable funding for women’s services.
While the value of women’s services is widely recognised, this recognition is not matched by the core funding needed to provide quality gendered support. Women’s centres are proven to reduce offending, health inequalities, social care involvement and statutory homelessness, but social return requires investment.
CWRC would welcome the opportunity to hand over the reins to other women’s organisations in Peterborough. The lease on our building is available from 1st April 2026 and the landlord is supportive of grassroots organisations. We would be delighted to see a Women’s Centre continue in Peterborough. If your organisation is interested, please reach out to ceo@cwrc.org.uk to discuss.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the women who have engaged with our services, to our committed staff and volunteers, and to the partners and funders who have supported us throughout the years. We’re sorry we are unable to continue.
